Nettle pie

Last year, I didn’t even know what to do with the flour, yet now I am very successful at making pies that only our grandmothers used to make for the family on special occasions. Very traditional, and also very delicious. Definitely a recipe worth trying.

Kudos to me!

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg all-purpose flour
  • ¼ active yeast
  • 700 ml warm water
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 250 ml olive oil
  • 500 gr nettle leaves
  • 200 gr feta cheese
  • 1 egg

Instructions:

Using gloves, remove the nettle leaves and pour boiling water over them. Drain and mix with crumbled feta cheese and egg—season with salt and pepper. Set aside for later use.

Continue by mixing the flour, yeast, salt, and warm water and form a dough. Knead the dough well, and divide it into ten equal parts. Roll out each piece and sprinkle with olive oil. Set them aside for approximately 15 minutes.

For achieving the best results, use a clean cotton sheet. Take one of the dough pieces separately and stretch it out using your hands, as thin as it goes. Sprinkle with olive oil and nettle filling. Roll the cotton sheet and place the prepared pie in a round oiled baking pan. Repeat the same procedure with the remaining dough pieces.

Bake in a preheated oven at 200 for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
